Sometimes a woodworker wants to build the top, but would rather not turn four identical legs or cut every apron component. That is where a table-base kit can be useful. Start with what you already own: the tabletop itself. Then work backward from its exact measurements and construction.
Measure the top you actually have
The kit is configured around five- and six-foot tops, 29 or 37 inches wide. Measure the length and width precisely, then compare the base choice rather than relying on a nominal lumber size. A five-foot base footprint is 56 inches long; a six-foot base is 66 inches long.
Calculate real overhang before committing
The 37-inch-wide top options pair with a 31-inch-wide base, and the 29-inch options pair with a 25-inch-wide base. Those differences produce roughly three inches per side if the top is centered. End overhang is about two inches per end on the nominal five- or six-foot tops. Confirm intended centering and your final design.
Respect top thickness and the final height
The legs are 28.5 inches tall. Total table height depends on your top thickness and assembly details, so do not assume a standard dining height without calculating it. Chair or bench heights also matter.

Shop the base kit ↗Decide on a wood-movement-aware connection
A solid-wood top can move across its grain as humidity changes. Choose a top-attachment method appropriate to its construction that accommodates movement rather than rigidly trapping a wide panel. This kit does not include tabletop screws, and the listing’s general recommendation does not replace checking your particular design.
Dry-fit the base before touching the finish
Set the aprons and turned legs together, inspect the predrilled pocket holes, and confirm the top lines up with the frame. Look carefully at diagonal measurements, corner alignment, and the intended top overhang.
Choose a finish that unifies the materials
The apron pieces are pine, the legs rubberwood, and your supplied top may be yet another species. A painted base can simplify color matching; a stained base benefits from sample boards and controlled surface preparation. Matching a stain label does not guarantee matching wood tones.
Before you order
Start with the exact tabletop dimensions, then confirm base footprint, mounting method, and final assembled height.
Questions builders ask
Can I buy a custom size that is not listed?
The listing specifies the four combinations shown. Contact Curbside Treasures about special sizing before ordering; do not assume a custom size is available.
Does it fit any reclaimed slab?
No. The piece must be suitable in dimensions, stability, mounting method, and structural design.
Are bolts or screws for the top included?
No. Tabletop fasteners are the builder’s responsibility.
